We know it's important to be thorough. That's why we offer a comprehensive eye examination that will uncover hidden, symptomless, potentially sight threatening eye disorders and diseases that are not found by a simple vision screening.

Since the eyes are a part of the body, they can be affected by seemingly unrelated health conditions. We must know about your general health and your medication including non-prescription medication prior to treatment.

We accept insurance and file your insurance claims. We also accept Medicare assignments.

Meet Our Doctors

Dr. James A. Williams, Jr., O.D.	Dr. James A.Williams was raised in Fries, Virginia and served a four year term in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Biology from Auburn University. He also graduated Cum Laude as a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama and received Best Primary Care Skills award. Dr. Williams enjoys golf and spending time with his wife and children.
Dr. Shad L. Wheatley, O.D.	Dr. Shad L.Wheatley was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Zoology from Brigham Young University and also graduated Cum Laude as a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama.  He also recieved the Dean's Award of Excellence.  Dr. Wheatley enjoys his service in church, spending time with his wife and children, kyaking, and the great outdoors.
Dr. Katherine L. Henning, O.D.	Dr. Katherine L. Henning ("Dr. Kate") is a native of Northeastern Pennsylvania- Tunkhannock, PA. She attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan and obtained an Associates' Degree in Optometric Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Biology - graduating with highest honors with both degrees. She then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia and graduated Beta Sigma Kappa. She went on to complete a residency in Contact Lens and Corneal Disease at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and continued at UAB as an Assistant Professor and Manager of the Contact Lens and Corneal Disease Department. Dr. Henning then moved to North Carolina and practiced in Sparta, NC for 6 years. Dr. Henning enjoys spending time with her husband, Nick, and two sons, Spencer and Alexander, and also reading, hiking, and time outdoors.
Dr. Amber K. Gunter, O.D.	Dr. Amber K.Gunter was raised in Fort Chiswell, Virginia.  She recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Virginia's College at Wise, Virginia.  Dr. Gunter recieved a Bachelor of Science Degree and Doctor of Optometry Degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  While at PCO, Dr. Gunter participated in numerous externships, including one on the Crow Indian Reservation in Crow Agency, Montana, and one at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona.  She enjoys sports, traveling, crafts, and spending time with family.
